Mercury Marine, the world leader in recreational, commercial and government marine propulsion has signed a supply agreement with FPT Industrial to make the FPT 6.7L mechanically fuel injected NEF engines available for sale in global markets.

“This partnership with FPT allows Mercury Marine to develop market awareness of the new product’s value proposition in global markets that we don’t have a presence in yet,” said Martin Bass, Mercury Marine vice president of global category management. “This midrange expansion will support the needs of a predominantly commercial markets globally.”

The 6.7L diesel engine, branded Mercury Diesel, will be the perfect power for single application (22’ to 30’) sterndrive and inboard boats such as passenger ferries, taxi boats and other government applications.  It will also appeal to dual applications such as passenger ferries, taxi boats, boats with water jet propulsion and displacement trawlers (30’-50’).  The reliability of the engines aligns with the company’s family of diesel offerings that are durable and easy to maintain and serve.

“This agreement is a testimony to FPT Industrial’s recognized technological leadership,” said Annalisa Stupenengo, brand president FPT Industrial.  “It further underlines our commitment to the very demanding field of marine applications.  We are confident that together we will leverage our respective strengths in product and services to the benefit and satisfaction of our customers.”

Mercury Marine will officially launch the 6.7L midrange engine at the 2016 China International Boat show in Shanghai and it will be available in the marketplace in Q1 of 2016.
