The 13th annual International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC) saw a 15% increase in numbers this week, making it the most successful show to date. IMBC, produced by the Association of Marina Industries (AMI), took place January 28-30, 2015, at the Tampa Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

“We are excited about this year’s growth, and delighted to have had so many marina and boatyard colleagues attend the event” AMI Chair Jeff Rose, CMM, says. “It’s also clear to me the economy is continuing to rebound and that IMBC is the place for continuing education, meeting with industry suppliers, and networking with other marina professionals.”

Keynote speaker, Bill Yeargin opened Friday with his presentation on “Lessons in Leadership”. Yeargin’s message this year focused on “Character, Culture, Clarity” reminding the audience that “small differences create huge results”. The morning keynote was followed by a series of technical breakout sessions organized into four tracks: coastal, inland, engineering and boatyard and service.

The day also included Best Profit Ideas, a panel presentation of the top three ideas submitted by marina professionals, judged by their peers.  After the panel, the audience voted for a winner via text messaging, live. The Conference ended with six hands-on workshops that gave participants an opportunity to delve deeply into topics such as SEO optimization, HR management and enhancing web sites.

Next year’s IMBC will take place on January 27-29, 2016, at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. To learn more, visit MarinaAssociation.org/IMBC.
