GE Capital's Commercial Distribution Finance (CDF) business has been selected by Groupe Beneteau, the North American business of France's Groupe Beneteau as a preferred provider of floorplan financing for its retail dealerships.

Approved Beneteau dealers in the U.S. and Canada are eligible for vendor-subsidized interest support on specific brands as well as preferred program terms for their wholesale purchases. Those brands are Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, Prestige and Monte Carlo Yachts.

Lori Mason, president of The Store, Mason's Chandlery, and Morten Fogh, president of Fogh Marine, have announced an agreement in principle for Morten to purchase The Store, Mason's Chandlery. The expected deal should be done by the end of February.  It will be business as usual at both locations before and afterwards.

After almost 34 years (in April) the Mason’s are finally retiring to Picton. “It has been the best career I could ever think of” stated Lori Mason, “I am so happy that my parents choose to open The Store back in 1978 and gave me an opportunity to work here 34 years while buying the store from them.

MarineMax Vacations has announced that it is expanding its current range of services from sailing and power charter yacht vacations in the Caribbean to now include inland waterway vacations in Europe provided by Locaboat Holidays. MarineMax Vacations will sell the European cruising experience to Americans.

The Marine Retailers Association of the Americas is accepting nominations and applications for its Young Leaders Advisory Council.

The MRAA created YLAC as an advisory group to represent the needs and the thinking of the next generation of marine retailers and to provide additional insight and direction to the MRAA Board of Directors. The council’s creation was based on a desire to help develop future leaders to aid in the progress and growth of the boating industry.

Rotary Mobility Cup 2011, jointly hosted by Royal Hamilton Yacht Club (RHYC) and Burlington Sailing and Boating Club (BS&BC), was a major success. Twenty Martin 16s were on the starting line for the Gold Fleet and twenty five for Silver fleet, as well as a separate fleet of eleven Access Liberty dinghies over the four days of racing from August 29th to September 2nd.

The Martin Gold Fleet was dominated by the sailors from AQVA out of Point Claire Yacht Club in Quebec, taking the top four overall results, with Pierre Richard taking first place overall honours for the Mobility Cup,

It shouldn't take National Safe Boating Awareness Week (May 19-25) to remind us that life jackets are important, even for man's best friend. But no matter if you have a water dog or a lap dog, the life jacket has to be right-sized - so how will you know it fits?
