NAVIONICS RELEASES MOBILE AVIATION APP

Navionics Fly app

Aug 14, 2016

20,040 Airports, over 60 Checklists and more for FREE.

Navionics has announced the release of its app for aviation, Navionics Fly, on the Apple store.

Navionics Fly provides aviators with a serious, yet easy-to-use app designed for different levels of piloting experience and a variety of aircraft. Fly includes customizable checklists, route planning, flight tracking, 3-day wind forecasts and more.

“The features in the Fly app, such as checklists and tracking, have been developed and tested by experienced pilots, including me and our employees,” said Giuseppe Carnevali, founder and president of Navionics. “We’re boaters, skiers, hikers, bikers and pilots like you, and we understand how to enhance your outdoor experience.”

The app offers more than sixty extremely detailed checklists that provide users with step-by-step instructions. Based on the aircraft, checklists can include preflight inspection, engine start, take off, landing, shutdown, taxi and emergency procedures. The aircrafts within the app are organized in nine categories: Airplane (40 models), Powered Gliders (5), Non-engine Gliders (4), Powered Hang Gliders (3), Hang Gliders (3), Gyropcopter (3), Helicopter (7), Paramotor (2) and Paraglider (1). Navionics Fly also allows users to personalize the app to suit their individual needs by editing the lists; the additions are made available to all users as community checklists.

The new app also provides aviators the ability to plan routes on a dedicated screen. Estimated time of arrival is given within route planning, as well as distance to arrival, fuel consumption and more based on the aircraft settings. Fly records all tracks and users can view the track console in real time with customizable settings for flight time, speed, distance and elevation. Saved tracks can be viewed in playback with expandable speed and altitude graphs to evaluate performance.

A database of more than 20,000 airports located across the United States, Italy and Switzerland offers information such as location on the map, airport name, closest city name and the type of airport. More airports may be added in the future.

Navionics Fly is currently available for iPhone only. To learn more about Navionics Fly or Navionics and its complete product offerings, please visit www.navionics.com.
